London Cyclists Stage A 'Die-In' Protesting Traffic Conditions That Cause Cycling Fatalities...

More than one thousand cyclists staged a peaceful 'die-in' in London recently to protest against traffic conditions that cause more and more cycling deaths.
Six cyclists were killed in the city of London between November the sixth and November the eighteenth.
Mayor Boris Johnson likes to blame the cyclists for not being visible enough, not wearing helmets and hi-vis clothing but it really hasn't much to do with that. It has to do with speed and the fact that the drivers of these buses and big rigs just cannot or do not see the cyclists and just seem to run them down.
And perhaps they're in a hurry like the rest of the world or, simply don't care.
The city appears to only pay lip service to doing something about a solution.
But don't take my word for it, have a look here. And please, if you're cycling somewhere,
do wear some protective clothing.
I don't want you getting crushed to death...

  1. It seems that this is a problem worldwide in big cities. There are too many vehicles, everyone is in a hurry, and many don't care about others on the road. The smaller you are as in pedestrian or cyclist the greater the risk. What to do? Any ideas?

  2. Could try a medieval Knight's armor, but that extra weight may flatten the bike's tires.

  3. HI Vis clothing didn't stop a truck from cutting me off going into Southampton, 3 years ago on day 4 of a 6 month cycle trip, breaking my thumb and collarbone...end it cycling in UK that trip....Cycling is dangerous, so avoid traffic and cities if possible?
    Plus be very cautious!
